Cooplands cafe ham sandwich and a pot of tea

From Wednesday 15th July, we will be passing on the savings from the temporary VAT reduction to our customers, which will see prices fall across our hot takeaway food and drinks and also in our sit-in cafés.

We have 12 cafés which are all eligible for the VAT reduction from 20% to 5% as announced by Chancellor Rishi Sunak last week. Although the choice to pass these savings onto customers is optional, we have vowed to lower prices across our entire menu.

We will also be extending the savings to our bakery shops and across our fleet of food-to-go vans on hot takeaway food and hot drinks. Below are some examples of the Cooplands shop items that will cut their prices:

  • Sausage and bacon sandwiches – reducing from £1.89 to £1.65
  • Porridge – reducing from £1.10 to 95p
  • Soups – reducing from £1.15 to £1
  • Breakfast pots (applicable shops only) – reducing from £2.50 to £2.20
  • Cappuccino – reducing from £2 to £1.75
  • Latte – reducing from £2 to £1.75
  • Mocha – reducing from £2 to £1.75
  • Flat White – reducing from £2 to £1.75
  • Hot Chocolate – reducing from £2 to £1.75
  • Espresso – reducing from £1.70 to £1.50
  • Americano – reducing from £1.75 to £1.55
  • Tea – reducing from £1.45 to £1.30

Though you might occasionally get a freshly baked sausage roll or pasty hot from the oven, these are not kept heated in shop and therefore are VAT-free and not entitled to the VAT cuts. The reduction does not apply to cold takeaway food, such as sandwiches, as these items don’t have VAT applied to them.
